We love engagement shoots!!!
Tom and I are asked all the time by our couples for suggestions on where to photograph their engagement session. I start by asking if there is a place that is special to them, such as where they met, went for a special date or where he or she proposed. This has led us to photoshoots on college campuses, outside Mile High Stadium, in an intimate wine bar, in a dugout at Westminster baseball fields, underneath a special tree on Dinosaur Ridge, at the Erie Airport and even on top of a fire truck. If you and your fiancé have a location with an emotional connection, the images taken there will have a special place in your heart. It also helps to share your story if you have a wedding website or wish to display some prints at your reception! Here are images from some recent sessions:
CU, Boulder - Varsity Lake and many old buildings with lots of character. Can be crowded, so plan for a time when there is less student activity.

Another idea is to plan a photoshoot at your venue. Let’s face it; you most likely paid a lot of money when you booked your venue because it is gorgeous or in a beautiful setting. Many venues will let you shoot your engagement session there if you choose a date and time that is free of other events. For Tom and I, this has led to shoots at many venues, including Red Rocks Chapel, Botanic Gardens (Chatfield and Denver), Deer Creek Valley Ranch, Wedgewood Mountain View Ranch and Ellis Ranch.

Ok, so none of the above? No worries. Below are some other places where we have shot to give you some ideas. One thing we try to do when possible, is go to two locations that are close by. This gives our couples some variety for their save the dates and/or their signing guestbook.
Remember that some locations require a pass or permit. Your photographer should be able to verify whether or not a permit is needed and if there are any costs associated with it.
Also remember this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are literally hundreds of places to shoot in the Denver area and along the front range. We are blessed to live in such an amazing state!
If you have any questions about engagement or wedding photography, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help!
